Upskirting wholesale halloween costumes teacher had passion for lingerie - not teenagers
A FORMER Geelong Grammar teacher who used babydoll chemise his digital camera to photograph up students' skirts had a fetish for lingerie and not teen girls, a court has heard.
Stefan Janse Van wholesale Plus Size Lingerie Vuuren, 39, of St Albans Park, pleaded guilty in Geelong Magistrates' Court yesterday to one count of upskirting, The Geelong Advertiser reports.Police prosecutor Sen-Constable Kylie Jane said that on October 29, last year, Janse Van Vuuren took Year 10 geography students on an excursion to Queenscliff Marine Biology Centre.
She said that during the excursion students had to lean over tanks to get a better look at animals and exhibits.Sen-Constable Jane said that while they were doing this, a female student saw Janse Van Vuuren put his digital camera beside his leg with the lens facing up and he appeared to be taking photos up students' skirts.Geoff Ambrose, for Janse Van Vuuren, said the most extraordinary aspect of the case was the very genuine and profound display of remorse shown by his client.
"When he was arrested he sought legal advice and was advised to make a no-comment record of interview, which he did," Mr Ambrose said."He went home, spoke with his wife and instead of following legal advice, followed the dictates of his conscience. He then phoned the police station and arranged to make a new record of interview, during which he admitted the allegations.
"Mr Ambrose said Janse Van Vuuren obtained counselling for his behaviour and had been diagnosed as having a voyeuristic disorder which manifests itself in times of stress."His disorder does not involve children but, generally speaking, female underwear," he said. "He deleted the pictures soon after taking them."Janse Van Vuuren was convicted and placed on a nine-month community based order with 80 hours of unpaid community work.
