Hawaiian Heirloom Jewelry - A Cultural History

Well, I have been working hard at my Bonanza booths, cleaning up listings while adding new stuff, getting ready for another huge import before the holidays.  I was hoping to have had the jewelry all done and ready by now, but, alas, is not the case.
Turns out today, someone was asking me about some of my pieces and the designs on some of them, so I decided to make that my blog story this week.  I am now selling Hawaiian Heirloom Jewelry in my booth at Tuckerstuff, and just finished adding all the rings I have available, and are just as much a part of the culture here as the Hula, Spam, and Rice; it's just a part of the culture that a lot of people do not realize.  You may have seen some of these pieces before or similar ones to it on people, and not thought much of it, but trust me when I say they are much more than just another piece of jewelry, as the beauty of Hawaiian heirloom jewelry is exquisite, refined and certainly unparalleled. It’s a treasured keepsake that is given from parent to child, friend to friend, sweetheart to sweetheart. And more than anything else, it’s a lasting gift that is unique to Hawaii.

For more than 125 years, Hawaiian Heirloom jewelry has become a proud symbol of the islands and of everlasting love. It makes a perfect remembrance of your time here, and a special gift for important occasions. Gleaming gold has a long history as a favorite adornment in Hawaii. The ideal complement to a deep Island tan, gold jewelry was favored over 100 years ago by the royal family of Hawaii. It was Queen Lili’uokalani herself who began the tradition of Hawaiian Heirloom Jewelry, enameled with names and phrases dear to the heart. Over the years, the glitter of gold has become synonymous with Hawaii’s enviable golden sunshine. Captured in gold, the abundant gifts of nature that play such a great part in Island lives and values, become cherished treasures to carry with you always. The renowned spirit of our Islands is embodied in our signature Aloha Heart, with a hidden message of love found within its shadow….while slippers stand for the relaxed, friendly soul of Hawaii. Plumeria, pineapples and other florals which thrive on our rich, green fertile lands, are offered as everlasting keepsakes, and the pineapple traditionally stands for hospitality, welcome, and friendliness. Hawaii’s glorious Sea Life—the graceful dolphin, powerful whale, wise honu (turtle), dramatic tropical fish—are all rendered in precious gold as lasting symbols of our living seas.

That shirt is absolutely fantastic! Out of all the ones I have, this print is my favorite, I think. This one and the black one that is also listed. Thanks very much!

Thank you soooo much, Pace. I never once in a thousand years would have believed that I would be doing what I'm doing now and getting the re-seller's licenses that I have if someone had told me. I may not be lucky in life offline, but I seem to more than make up for it in my online life. lol. Aloha!
