Recently, Hyundai announced the hybrid models will use the new Kappa series 1.6L GDI engine and the new 8-speed automatic gearbox developed for the precursor model.
Faced with growing hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles market, Hyundai has developed this new Kappa series 1.6 l GDI engine. This is Hyundai's first use Atkinson cycle, cooled exhaust gas circulation and long-stroke engine, the maximum power output of 105 horsepower and peak torque of 147 Nm.
The new 8-speed automatic gearbox will match with the precursor model, compared to 6-speed automatic gearbox fuel consumption improves 7.3%. By streamlining the valve structure, redesigning gears, etc., make this automatic gearbox reduction oil spill situation, improve the stability of the shift; not only that, in weight it also reduce 3.5kg than the previous 6-speed automatic gearbox. This gearbox is expected to match with Hyundai Lambda, Theta and other series engines.
