First One of Spring

Hanh!  Two days ago, I found the first woodtick of spring on me.  It isn't really spring until someone finds one of the nasty little things..  We haven't heard the Thunders here yet, so in the Indn Way, it isn't really spring yet.  But the woodticks have awakened, so the Thunders can't be too far behind.

As for why we call it Spring - I offer as explanation this haiku I wrote a month or so ago:

Tanktops and T's one / Day - Mukluks and parkas the next / Spring - the Dakotas!

  :-)

Could it be those woodticks have sprung early due spring damage from the Ponderosa due to tubby trains making tracks on rail adventures?

How high do the Rocky Mountain woodticks bite?

I have no idea, since I'm on the Great Plains..

They're still active.. although with over 4" of rain in the past 3 days, maybe a bunch of them will have drowned. We all hope.. meantime, I keep eating lots of gaaarlic. it keeps all kinds of blood-suckers away.

Perhaps bug spray all over might help?
