Adele has made a powerful comeback to music, and so has her eyeliner.
Four years after releasing her Grammy-winning album 21, British soul star Adele made a triumphant comeback in November with 25, which has been smashing records around the world. But the Hello singer has not only graced us with her music, she's helping classic beauty make a comeback too.
Adele has always rocked an enviable winged eyeliner, but it is even more prominent on the cover of 25, which features a close-up black-and-white portrait of the singer. Wearing simple make-up, her eyes truly pop thanks to the sleek and sophisticated liner on her eyes. While the rest of us may not be able to belt out soulful tunes like Adele, we can at least copy her look in a few easy steps.

Start out by using a primer on the lids to even out the tone. Then, apply a light matte shadow from the inner corner of the eye to the natural crease. If you want to go one step further, use a soft taupe shade in the crease area of the lid, creating a primer for a more intensified cat eye, just like Adele.
Now it's time to choose your eyeliner. Adele's longtime make-up artist Michael Ashton is responsible for the look she rocks in her Hello music video, and he told The Hollywood Reporter he started off with a gel liner first. He traced the lash line from the inner to the outer corner, angling the line towards the end of Adele's eyebrow, and stopping the wing where the crease ends.
If you don't have gel liner, you can make your own by warming the tip of a kohl liner with a lighter by holding the tip to the flame for a few seconds. Test the pencil on the back of your hand before putting it on your lids. Michael then filled the shape in with a liquid liner, after which he added the wing.
If you feel uneasy about drawing the cat eye by hand, use a nude or white pencil to draw a little dot at the outer corner of your eyes marking where you want the line to reach to as this gives you a template to work with. And remember that practice always makes perfect, so if you're not satisfied with your line at first, grab a cotton swab and dip it in petroleum jelly to sharpen the edges.
Just because the intense winged eyeliner look is perfect for Adele, it doesn't mean an exact replica will work for you. Almond-shaped eyes can flaunt the easiest cat eye, since you basically follow the shape of the eye. For eyes that are upturned, the shape should be a little less winged-out. If you have down-turned eyes, even it out with an up-turned wing. And those with round eyes should create the illusion of an almond shape by creating a tight line that gets thicker at the end.
