GHD's insider hair tips

GHD global brand ambassador Adam Reed's party waves are this season's top hairstyle.

It's officially Christmas party season, well, almost, which means three things; festive hair, festive make-up and festive outfits. Not Santa Claus or Rudolph festive, but glitter and red lipstick festive! On the hair front, we're thinking loose waves this Crimbo, because after all nothing says glamour like tumbling, loose curls. GHD's global brand ambassador Adam Reed has given us the lowdown on how to achieve party-hair perfection in five easy steps: a style he calls Glamour Wave.

"Step one is all about preparation," he told Cover Media. "Prep dry hair with GHD Curl Hold Spray and distribute evenly through the ends. Next take a small section of hair above the ear and flat-wrap around the GHD curve soft curl tong."

"Step three: Repeat technique, working up towards the parting. When you get to the parting, start the curl 10cm from the root. Once curled, slowly brush through with a paddle brush to transform the curls into a glamorous wave. Finally, finish with a mist of shine spray."

London-based hairstylist Stephanie Pollard is also a big fan of waves, and says it's easy to take the look from summer beachy vibes, to luxe party look. She has two secrets for achieving the relaxed curl look; tonging technique and shaping the front of the hair.

"It's all in the technique - it's not about the pageant curls," she warned. "You don't want it to look contrived. You have to tong it and then mess it up.

"The secret to tonging it is to just do the middle section, and actually you're leaving the ends straight. So you take it and literally just go to the centre and you're holding the ends out straight. That makes a big difference to if you curl it all the way down."
