Go Green Entertaining

Would you like some fun ways to make a change to your Christmas table and also go green at the same time?!

You can find a variety of styles, shapes and colors in vintage dishes and mix them up. Find contrasting but matching charger plates to place under your dinner plates. You could also mix and match dinner plates to add more creativity and flare to your table settings. Add more splashes of color with vintage linen placemats.

Find some large vintage glass, pottery or crystal dishes to show off foods. Use herbs, fresh greens, organic edible flowers and fruits to garnish the plates and your table. Use one of the bowls (an extra large one works best) as a decorative piece, fill it with fruit and set it as a centerpiece then use the fruit as a dessert or as snacks for your guests.

Be eco-friendly, find some vintage linen napkins to coordinate with your colors and rid yourself of paper napkins. You'll add more color and you'll reduce waste since they're reusable. If you like you can even find vintage porcelain napkin rings to fancy up the table even more!

Don't forget the candle holders and candles. Candlelight will add that extra bit of ambiance to relax you and your guests and bring smiles and laughter. Candlelight helps elevate everyones mood and is a perfect accent for not only your table but also for many of your other decorations. It's easy to find festive and beautiful vintage candle holders in various styles that will fit your needs. Candles can be found about anywhere in almost any color.

These tips can not only be used for holidays but any time of the year for entertaining. They not only work great to help keep your entertaining budget down but they also help to keep perfectly good (most times fantastic) pieces of vintage out of the garbage! So jump on the green bandwagon and create the perfect holiday table for you and your guests and have fun doing it!

And when the vintage plates start to chip or break.... put them aside to use for Mosaics!! That's what I do....

I saw a way to make Christmas wreaths out of old newspaper and vases from old soda bottles. Very cute~!

Over the years, I received two different sets (each 4 place settings) of Christmas dishes. I alternate the patterns when feeding a crowd and each plate is on a gold charger - the table always looks so festive! And the chargers do help keep the tablecloth clean!
