There is no denying the fact that social media is an effective tool to drive user engagement (conversations), sales, and awareness for your brand. We all kind of know it works. You post your items online in your news feeds combines with other informative posts and people come and check out what you have to sell. Sometimes they comment and sometimes they share and the cycle continues.

They know who you are, so they are interested in seeing more from you, so you continue to provide this information weekly, sometimes daily.  But often times an important question arises as you get more involved – Which medium should I use more of Twitter or Facebook? And then this spawns other questions like: When should I tweet? How many times should I post a message? Who should I follow? Why doesn’t anyone like...  Read More

Google

Hey Addowayers,

As I am sure you are all aware, Google is making some changes to their Google Product Search (GPS) feeds as of May 3, 2011.

They are now requesting Unique Product Identifiers (UPI) to be added to specific listings. If your items do not have these identifiers they will be rejected from Google Shopping.

Below you will learn what UPI's are and what is needed to keep your specific items in compliance. And please remember, we are here to help walk you through this.

I personally enjoy taking the time to speak with our sellers during our interview days. When you are trying to find out the needs of your sellers, there is no other method better. During these periods of time we get an opportunity to learn the true passions, drives, and stories behind what it is exactly that got our sellers going and keeps them moving forward. We talk about successes and challenges and where they think the industry is going.

Our interview this week was with Mark Le Vine of BubbleFAST. I am sure many of you know Mark and can vouch for him as a passionate customer service focused individual. So without further ado, let's see what we uncovered. Hint: It's ALL ABOUT THE CUSTOMER!

Q: How long have you been selling online?

Always looking to improve your sales? Looking for those missing ingredients in your eCommerce business? Well last summer I shared some top eCommerce tips that I felt would help you start selling more online, but since then I have uncovered even more and I wanted to revisit them and add more just for you. There is so much information out there that you can really find yourself getting lost, so I decided to put together this list to help with some really important ones.

So are you ready??? Well here we go:

  1. Always, think like your customer - you are a buyer too. Ask yourself: “What do I need?” Then deliver exactly that and nothing less…ever!
  2. Give your shoppers more ways to pay. Don’t just use the paypal.png option. 6a00d8341c630a53ef0147e02d9479970b-320wi...  Read More

When was the last time you purchased something online?

I purchased a DVD about two hours ago from a seller on Addoway and before that it was just 4 days ago from another seller on Addoway. Online transactions are increasing and it's only becoming more and more commonplace that shoppers turn to online stores and marketplaces to make purchases. Why go to the mall anymore? It's just too easy nowadays to just do things from the comfort of your own home or office (if you don't get caught).

I stumbled upon a very interesting infographic about online shopping around the world and thought it would be useful to our audience on Addoway. This study and infographic was taken from MyCouponCodes and you can read more about the study there.

Like we anticipated many shoppers trust the recommendations and...  Read More

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Kim of the Cheyenne General Store to understand a little bit more about why she does what she does and how it all started for her. Kim is a very passionate person and loves to help everyone in need. Even in her short time on Addoway she has gracefully dove into our site and helped us enhance certain aspects for sellers and even buyers. It doesn't matter if you're a friend or a potential customer - Kim loves to put a smile on people's face and help others. Without further ado, here we go:

Q: How long have you been selling online?

I signed up with my first site on February 12, 2008. My first dollar made was on February 16, 2008 - I was ecstatic and hooked from that point on!

Q: What is the link to your Addoway store?

We call it Passion Posting!

With the emergence of the “social” concept in business there should be no denying the fact that there are enough social networks, blogs, forums etc. to shake a stick at nowadays. The times have shifted and everyone is online and if they aren’t yet, they soon will be. More and more tools are available to meet and greet; provide customer service; and even sell to your clients, but sometimes we can find ourselves selling more than doing anything else. Why? Well because it’s what we do. It’s in our nature to sell. We want to sell our products, our services, and most importantly…ourselves.

Well as you are moving along in the social graph just make sure you remember it’s also there to be so much more than just a selling tool.  To keep it simple and easy at Addoway, we make sure we “passion post” each and every day. How many times doesn’t...  Read More

As part of Addoway's ongoing partnership with Salehoo, Alice Delore has agreed to share some of her experiences selling online.

Drop shipping is a hugely popular form of product sourcing. Being such a low-risk product sourcing method, it’s not surprising that so many online retailers (especially new ones) are attracted to it!

Just in case you haven’t heard of drop shipping, here’s how it works:

  1. You find a supplier offering a drop ship service on items that you wish to sell
  2. The supplier gives you photos and  descriptions of the items and you list them for sale online
  3. When you make a sale, the buyer pays you, and you pay the wholesale price to the supplier (keeping the profit for yourself!)
  4. The supplier sends the item direct to your buyer
Sounds great, right? With drop...  Read More

Try telling the story

We get so caught up in price. How can we show value if customers are only fixated on that one thing? It might sound easy to tell a story about an antique or collectible you are selling, but everything we possess or want to possess has a story behind it. The story was already written before we acquired it or we created the story once we own it. The handbags you sell that remind you of the one your husband bought you on your 20th year anniversary;  the bicycle your son has grown out of; the DVD collection that reminds you of all the great childhood memories with grandpa.

I can’t remember the last thing I bought where I was fixated on the price of the item.
