Drop shipping is a hugely popular form of product sourcing. Being such a low-risk product sourcing method, it’s not surprising that so many online retailers (especially new ones) are attracted to it!

Just in case you haven’t heard of drop shipping, here’s how it works:

  1. You find a supplier offering a drop ship service on items that you wish to sell
  2. The supplier gives you photos and  descriptions of the items and you list them for sale online
  3. When you make a sale, the buyer pays you, and you pay the wholesale price to the supplier (keeping the profit for yourself!)
  4. The supplier sends the item direct to your buyer

Try telling the story


We get so caught up in price. How can we show value if customers are only fixated on that one thing? It might sound easy to tell a story about an antique or collectible you are selling, but everything we possess or want to possess has a story behind it. The story was already written before we acquired it or we created the story once we own it. The handbags you sell that remind you of the one your husband bought you on your 20th year anniversary;  the bicycle your son has grown out of; the DVD collection that reminds you of all the great childhood memories with grandpa.

I can’t remember the last thing I bought where I was fixated on the price of the item.

According to a study released in January 2011 from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Marketing Research, 71% of companies used Facebook in 2010, up from 61% in 2009. Twitter, at 59% in 2010, and blogging, at 50%, is also still high on the list. Now I am quite sure that these statistics are not new to anyone. Ladies and gentlemen, your customers are online talking, sharing, meeting new friends and you should be out there doing the same. You should be alongside them building friendships and influence.
