We made a recent post in the Addoway University, exclusive for our Pro Members only, but we thought it was very important to add a blog post for the general public about Pinterest. A lot has been going around on the importance of Pinterest and if sellers should be using it "to pin" their items for the world to see. I am not sure if you noticed, but it was just identified that Pinterest is now the 3rd largest social network. Now while it might not seem like Facebook or even Twitter, Pinterest is very much a social network. I will even argue it is much livelier than either of the previous two networks mentioned. I am not going there to see how my friends are doing or what celebrity is saying today, but I am going to see what my friends are selling and that's why it is so important.
So should you be using Pinterest?
Let me put it into perspective for you and see what you think. We had the operations team at Addoway measure traffic for the previous 30 days and what they found may just shock you. It shocked us.
Pinterest traffic to Addoway trumps Twitter traffic.
It beats it by so much, it doesn't even make sense for our users to even tweet anymore, but only if you had to choose between the two. If you have noticed an increase in your traffic and you are a Pro Member you will be able to see the referral traffic from Pinterest. PLEASE USE PINTEREST. I am not encouraging you to stop tweeting, but I am begging you to start pinning.
USE WHAT WORKS AND USE IT OFTEN
You can learn more about how to use Pinterest here, but it is very important that you start using it today. Did you know? We added Pinterest buttons to our site before any other eCommerce marketplace added them. Now you see Amazon and eBay adding them as of last week. It is like Pinterest was created for sellers.
People love to see what you are adding, but it's not spam like you see on Facebook or confusion like you see on Twitter. It is pure beauty. The pages are elegant. It’s the simplest way to put it. People know what they are getting when they log into their Pinterest page and browse. They are looking for what their friends have found online. SHOW ME THOSE IMAGES!!! They are not looking for status updates or anything like that. They want to know what you found and in this case the beautiful things you are selling.
So go check out the "How to Pin" on Pinterest or if you are a Pro Member, just click on Addo University and start Pinning today!
