As many of you know, Google Analytics (GA) is a free service offered by Google that generates detailed statistics about the visitors to a website. GA is the most widely used website statistics service, currently in use on around 57% of the 10,000 most popular websites. Google Analytics can track visitors from all referrers, including search engines, display advertising, pay-per-click networks, e-mail marketing and digital collateral such as links within PDF documents. And if you didn’t know already, Pro Members on Addoway can use Google Analytics in their Addoway stores.
Are you interested in knowing where your traffic is coming from? Want to spend more time where the money is? Well with the thousands of different ways buyers can find your listings, it can become cumbersome figuring out if you are doing the right things or “spinning your wheels,” but with GA it can be done and you can have it installed very easily on Addoway as a Pro Member. Google Analytics is essential to your success short and long term.
Just follow these simple steps:
1. Sign up for a Google Analytics account, if you haven't already.
2. Add a new website profile for the domain "www.addoway.com".
3. Get your Google Analytics tracking code identifier (Example: UA-1234567-8) for the profile you just added. You can find it under Website Profiles, next to the www.addoway.com profile.
4. Enter your identifier in the box below.
5. Click save and Google will begin tracking your pages in a number of hours.
6. Check your analytics periodically by returning to your analytics profile in Google Analytics under Pro Member Tools in My Addoway.
You can then find out your user demographics like location and language. I think it's pretty cool to see a buyer from Indonesia or China found your store yesterday. Track behavior, technology and social engagement, which is especially useful on Addoway. Track if your users are mobile or if more of than are coming from BING or Google Shopping; even track content and conversions. The most useful tool is the length of time users spend on your listings and profile and getting your bounce rate, so you can work to improve it. The lower the bounce rate, the more they spend on your items. Bounce rate is exactly what it sounds like – bouncing.
The major point to understand here is that you can't just run a successful business without looking at where your traffic is coming from and where it's going. Addoway noticed more traffic coming from Pinterest then Twitter and noticed considerable differences. We then made sure we notified our sellers to spend more time there. We now spend more time there then on Twitter. You need to go to your audience.
