From my little house on the prairie to yours

Slide1.JPG
From America, the Beautiful
From my little house on the prairie to yours.  I finally got an American Flag Pole installed on the front of my house.  It's been about ten years since I had a flag.  Previously there was a flag hung vertically inside the door.  I never knew that the vinyl siding had a little wood behind it to get the pole installed.  Today, a handyman was a blessing when he came by the house with a new flag and pole, installed it and voila!

Recipes for cooking lobster Maine lobstah

Summer is near!
It is that time when New Englanders and folks from across the country, think about lobsters.

I love to collect recipes, in particular old fashioned recipes.

I found an old time recipe for traditional lobster chowder, from the late 1800s.
Traditionally lobster recipes are simple and classic, to the point.  The simplicity of the lobster recipes allow for the flavor of the lobster meat to synergize your palate.  It's the way it should be with all fresh food.

Here's a recipe for the chowder:

Cooking for Two, slow food ?

From Spring Fever
Cooking for Two – Simple Chicken Recipe – Slow Food?

Well, almost slow food.  Let’s call it medium food.  Cooking for two slow cooking
does not need to be challenging and you can have flavorful tasting dinners, without resorting to fast
food, take-out or prepared foods.
A simple recipe for pan seared chicken, if you don’t want to do the fried method.  Just use
a pan searing flour (not so slow cooking) or other fine flour with spices to your liking.

For most meals,  I cook in a cast iron frying pan.  I like the authenticity and have been doing this for
many, many years.

1.  Coat the chicken with the flour mixture.  Let sit a bit.  Add olive oil to your pan and a smidge of butter.
Let the oils get hot.  On an electric stove, I set at about 6/7 on the dial which...  Read More

When the tv goes kaput

From of interest on pinterest
What happens with no television in the house?
We’re  relegated to talk radio for the news for a while until someone is brave enough to
bring down an old television from upstairs.  The TV downstairs in the living room is kaput.

But tonight is really crazy, as the local radio talk show will be talking about the TIME magazine cover about attachment parenting.  I’m not going to get into opinions here, other than it appears to be unhealthy.  I’m more concerned over the  agenda of the magazine.  Are they trying to create sensationalism?  Are they just after the ‘selling factor’?  I don’t know.

There has been no television here for a little over a month. The TV was only 9 years old.  Well, to some that may seem ancient, but to me would prefer a bit longer shelf life.  Sigh.
