#oneboston Boston Marathon Patriot's Day Pray for Boston

Being a local, native of Massachusetts, I've seen many a marathon race.  Back in the old days, itwas not run for money, nor did the runners have sponsors.  I even saw the legendaryJohnny Kelly run back in the day.

Just seconds after the first explosion rocked the area near the finish line, there was a
second blast a few blocks away on Boylston Street.
For those fortunate to be on the route, it was familytradition to watch together, hand out oranges and perhaps water, and then havea family cookout together after race.  Many years of happy family celebrations and good times surrounding this day.  Now, I work on Patriot's Day, but the place of employmentis also on the route.  This year, we watched from the third floor of an historic buildingas the thousands of athletes came came down...  Read More

Daily Pinterest Activity

Pinterest, the newest national pastime.
Using pinterest is one of the easiest and most fun social media activities.
A few of my boards:
pinterest

I use Pinterest for personal and professional and everything inbetween.

But for this discussion, what about ecommerce applications of pinterest.  There are so many, but will talk about a few.

Being different than other marketing efforts, pinterest is really an engagement strategy and it makes so much sense.

Start with those things of which you are interested naturally.  Create your boards,  add your own products if you like.  You'll start to get a feel for it, once you see how things stack up.

If you are interested in marketing, think of how you can add value to your followers.  What boards are they following?

Before, I thought about marketing or anything, I started doing this...  Read More

Finding Your Authenticity - A Thought Process

This is our monthly guest post from Royal Presence, an Addoway Seller and one of our Addoway's monthly bloggers who will bring her experiences and expertise into the fold in some of many blog posts to come. She is passionate about your business as much as she is about her own and you will notice this in her blog posts and we are very excited to have her a part of the team. Enjoy!

Whether you are investing in an artistic pursuit, hobby or a business one theme remains constant and that theme is YOU. We all give of ourselves in so many ways during our daily lives and this defines our success, but what makes a successful person?

One Must Be Authentic

Authenticity is when you share your talents and living the life for which you were intended. I firmly believe we all have talents, some are under-developed and some are hidden under a...  Read More

Daylight Savings Time Ends Sunday, November 4, 2012

Just rejuvenating the reminder to set the clocks back!  Sunday, November 4, 2012 Daylight Savings Time ends.  It's time to change not only the clocks but batteries in smoke detectors carbon monoxide detectors, all good safety minded tasks to implement. What time is it?  It's addoTime of course.

What does it all mean?  I never really understood the 'savings' anyway.  For me, it means it is dark very early in the late afternoon/evening.  Fortunately, I do not have a long commute.

My mother used to love this time of year, because she would say, I can't wait to get that hour back.  For many, we seem to be tired and lagging until we do indeed get the hour back.  It's a sacrifice I guess.  For about two months, we will be dark until the sun is out a little later by a minute each day.  But, our...  Read More

September 11th

It's difficult to remember this day, yet important to remember the emergency crews and ordinary citizens who helped their fellow human beings through this tragic day.  It brings tears to me to watch the events as I did on a documentary the other evening.  To remember is painful and surreal.

Let us just remember how grateful we are to have amongst us the angels on earth who help support and protect each and every day.

Pinewood Derby

Mothers, Fathers, Sons and Cub Scouts

It’s a whole family thing and fosters good clean family oriented interactions,  of health and spirit if you are involved with a Scout.

Being a den leader for the Cub Scouts is fun.  One thing disturbed me though and that was
some of the projects that were to be completed for the next week's meeting were obviously done by the parents.  I tried to foster creativity, ingenuity, independence and seek guidance when possible.  Still, many of the boys brought in some work created  either by Mom or Dad.  Some parents just didn’t get the point of assisting and not doing the kids work. I often wondered how they dealt with homework.   I have some of their projects still in the attic.  I’ll have to dig them out sometime.   Take the Pinewood Derby for instance.

The Pinewood Derby

Black Friday- Occupy Wall Street - Thanksgiving 2011

So, how do you feel about Black Friday in this year of 2011?

It's not really Black Friday anymore, but it's infiltrated Thanksgiving Day and a Thursday.  I've never been a Black Friday shopper anyways, but now Thursday?

Fundamentally, there is something ill-conceived and improper about this retail thinking.
I'm an online merchant, but my opinion on stores opening on Thursday for Thanksgiving sales is declared immoral.  I know I won't be popular for this thinking, but there are times when one must stand up for an ethical principle.

I know, to use the term immoral may create more controversy, but the current situation of shopping on Thanksgiving is insanity.  Think about it.  If the general public really needs to get out and shop on Thanksgiving to get...  Read More

Planes, Trains and Automobiles - How do you Shop?

Thought I was all set for the season as a merchant, with supplies for shipments, tape, boxes bubble wrap and all.

What was not anticipated was for the car to break down, no pun intended.  To the tune of almost 2K, will need new brakes and all.  It was very scary driving to work today and barely being able to stop.  Ahhh!  For someone who shops at part of the occupation, the weekend is prime time to gather and collect special orders.  So, I figured I can do some walking, I could take a train, a taxi, and/or I could order online.  This got me to thinking?  How does everyone else shop without
transportation of some sort?

Have you found things you need online at addoway?  I bet you might just find some of those...  Read More

Lost Cds the covers

What do you do when you no longer have the cd cover, insert with lyrics that are supposed to be in your cd case?

If you are a fastidious collector, you probably do not lose these.  If you are haphazard at times, perhaps you are missing one or two.

Or, have you bought a cd in order to resell only to find the covers are missing?

I have a collection of them that were used for display in retail for getting cds.  All were in their protective sleeve and indexed.  I've started listing them for sale.  If you have  a particular one you are looking for, please let me know.
