The World Series and the First Snowfall

As they are just starting the National Anthem for Game six of the World Series, we are getting the first snowfall of the season in New England.  The 1st snow is always pretty and somewhat magical.

by comparison, this is from last winter, a heavy snowfall season.
This kind of snow is treacherous to drive in, a royal pain to navigate and
horrible to shovel.  Have a blessed and safe winter!

What is Wegman's grocery store?

Shopping for a living encompasses much of my life.  I shop for those items you cannot locate in your area.  I'm basically thrilled to learn there is a Wegman's in my area, just opened today.  I did not go to the grand opening, but am going to get there this week.  All I hear is rave reviews from this store, so for my occupation, this might be a breath of fresh air.  We have great stores in my region, don't get me wrong, but I have not had the Wegman experience, so I am told.  Food shopping may never be the same, they claim!  Here's some of the glowing reviews they received.  One of the recurring ones, I am seeing is the fabulous Customer Service.

My Archie Comic Book and Thanksgiving

Everything's Archie

My Archie Comic Book

and other thoughts

Kind of a three part harmony blog tonight.

Last weekend I took a trip down memory lane.  One of my most favorite things to do on summer vacation, besideScan0000.jpgs swim in the ocean, was to go to the "Landing" with my uncle. The Landing was a great little store and deli in North Eastham. I believe it is now called Tides Landing.

Every morning he would drive to the store and get the newspaper and buy me an Archie comic book.  I would have it read by the time we got back to our cottage.

When the beating of your heart matches the beating of the drums....

"When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!"*

I just finished watching the 25th Anniversary Concert of Les Miserables.  The song "Do you Hear the People Sing" really got me thinking.  I was thinking not along the lines of history or the French peoples, (although I'm part French), but more along the lines of all of us as people.  Too philosophical for a Sunday night, but it is the mood.  I was blown away by this song.

DADT Repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell Explain Simply

I never really understood this DADT law. It didn't make any sense.  I can't find anything that really seems simple as to why it was in existence in the first place.  I really don't understand if you are serving your country and working beside your comrades, do you really care what race, religion, yadayadaya they are?

I've never served in the military, but did try to join and was too small.  Harvard University is now going to reinstate the ROTC program.  Why didn't they have it before?

But, I do know if I'm on a team playing a sport, I really don't care what that person is, as long as they play their position/role/job well and I'll cover them and hopefully they will cover me.  I mean, isn't that what being United means?

I would just like someone to explain simply, why the law was in effect anyway.

The Fab Four Abbey Road ... er Addo Road on addoway

Fab Four on addo Road are going the Addoway.

I had to change the theme of the blog tonight semi spontaneously.  These three store owners stepped up to the plate very quickly. This is Girls' Night Out on the addoRoad.

Sharlyn is the one with the elegant hat.  I'm the one that has the bananas (what was I thinking?)
Donna just looks tres cool with her scarf and bag of cd's., Cindy is oh too pretty with her bag of goodies. Having fun, shopping, sharing and discovering on addoway.

Yet, I didn't see a restaurant on the addoway, perhaps they need to add a bit of food for sustenance on the shopping trips?  Maybe a coffee shop at least?  Pizza? A little outdoor cafe, like in Italy?

Seriously, addoway is all about trust and knowing with whom you are...  Read More

What is your Ministry?

What is your ministry?  I have not found mine yet.

This is a little about me and I will be brief because it's a long process, but you can check out some of the links if you are inclined.

It started at my church many years ago and I began to garden. Well, it probably started from birth, but I can't write a novel.   The story is located here.

You can see this was a grotto landscape.  It was a glorious time in my personal spiritual journey.

Well what would ensue in the coming years I couldn't foresee.  The story of Bernadette was intriguing to me and links to my gardening at the Grotto.

Life would go on and then my mother got sick.  I tried to take care of her as best I could.  She passed away and I had quit my job at Bose Corporation.  It was a painful time for all.  Without getting into details, this experience led me to being a...  Read More

Goodnight Irene, Goodnight

The weekend was long with Irene looming.  I woke up at 6:21 a.m., on Sunday morning.  In retrospect, wish I stayed in bed.

At around 10:00 a.m., lost power after five prior outages.

I've been through some storms of nor'easter caliber with snow, (yes the Blizzard of '78) and this past winter was nearly intolerable,  but not too many hurricanes. I've seen too many flooded basements and sump pumps that get fried.

What bothered me most was that I was alone during this storm, with family in various places.

These pictures depict some of my thoughts.

1.  The Tree of Life, pretty self explanatory.  One needs to rely on core values everyday, but especially times of uncertainty.  I prayed a lot to God to keep me safe and those of my family.

2.  The Scribbles.  With no...  Read More

Get on the Bus, Gus, to the land of addodway

Sharing blogs on addoway. Blog sharing on addoway is increasing in quality and numbers.

This week's blogs (10th) week are being posted on facebook as usual at Addoway Sellers Meet and Greet group and I try to curate on scoop it.

Last week was the 9th blogging week since addoway began featuring sellers' blogs on Wednesday of each week , with a record 40 blog posts.

It can be a challenge to try and read them all, so I've captured thirty five for your   reference, so you can catch up at your leisure.   I seem to be missing five.  If you know which ones might be missing, please let me know
and I'll get them listed.

In the meantime, a little poem, like the land of nod by RLS:

From breakfast on through all the day
