..and the #1 Hit at the Box Office this Weekend...

Very funny! The Dallas Morning News panned it and said Don't Go See it!

But this was #1 this weekend, grossing over $35 Million!

LOS ANGELES (AP) — "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" slurped up the box office.

The animated Sony sequel featuring the voices of Bill Hader and Anna Faris opened in first place and earned $35 million in its debut weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday.

The original "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" was showered with $30.3 million during its opening weekend in 2009.

"It's remarkable that it did as well as and surpassed the first film," said Rory Bruer, head of distribution for Sony Pictures. "The filmmakers really ratcheted it up in terms of palette and tone. It's one of those films that just draws you in. The story is fun, and there's something for the whole family."

GOING TO A DRIVE-IN THEATER

Drive-in movie theaters are -- maybe -- coming back ...

My family, when I was growing up, did NOT go to drive-in theaters. On Saturday night or Sunday, we went to the local movie theater. But all of us (my two sisters and brother, Mom, and Dad), piled into the car, and the Saturday night movie was a family tradition.

Georgia Aquarium exhibits preserved sea creatures, Associated Press KATE BRUMBACK

Associated Press

ATLANTA (AP) — The Georgia Aquarium is giving visitors the chance to peer inside the bodies of giant sea creatures.

The exhibit, "Sea Monsters Revealed: Aquatic Bodies," includes the preserved bodies of shark and other animals with their flesh stripped away to expose muscles, bones and organs underneath.

The exhibit, which opens Friday at the aquarium, is similar to the popular "Bodies" and "Body Worlds" exhibits of dissected human bodies that have toured the world.

The "Sea Monsters Revealed" show includes 18 big sea creatures — a 6-foot-wide devil ray, a 15-foot-long mako shark and an 18-foot-long, 3,000-pound whale shark — along with more than 150 individual organs and smaller animals.

Gov. Brown signs bill to develop California earthquake early warning system

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday ordered creation of a statewide earthquake early warning system that could give millions of Californians a few precious seconds of warning before a powerful temblor strikes.

The bill signed into law Tuesday directs the Office of Emergency Services to develop the system and identify sources of funding for it by January 2016. The system is expected to cost about $80 million to build and run for five years. The money cannot come from state general funds and the law doesn't specifically address alternatives, such as federal money or private sector partnerships.

The Moon Is 100 Million Years Younger Than Thought, by Mike Wall, Space.com

SPACE.com

The moon is quite a bit younger than scientists had previously believed, new research suggests.

The leading theory of   holds that it was created when a mysterious planet — one the size of Mars or larger — slammed into Earth about 4.56 billion years ago, just after the solar system came together. But new analyses of lunar rocks suggest that the moon, which likely by this monster impact, is actually between 4.4 billion and 4.45 billion years old.

The finding, which would make the moon 100 million years younger than previously thought, could reshape scientists' understanding of the early Earth as well as its natural satellite, researchers said. [ ]

Disney Isn't Planning "The Incredibles 2" Yet, but This Marvel Film Will Do, The Motley Fool

By Steve Symington

Back in July, I made the case for why Disney  (NYSE: DIS  ) Pixar would do well to create a sequel to its 2004 smash hit, The Incredibles.

After all, The Incredibles was widely declared a box-office success, ultimately taking in over $631 million in gross ticket sales worldwide on a reasonable production budget of $92 million.

What's more, delighted audiences have long kept their eyes peeled for The Incredibles 2, especially since the first film seemed to end with a sequel in mind, as the movie's namesake superhero family readied a fight with a villain comically named "The Underminer."
