Remembering People

Genealogy is my "passion" and has been for the best part of 20 years now.

I am a professional genealogist and researcher - researching family trees for a living. People often ask what was the point where I decided I wanted to do this.

I was working at a courthouse issuing birth, death and marriage certificates and a little old man came in one day and asked me to help find his baby that had been buried in a kerosene tin.

The man then proceeded over the next hour to tell me the full story about misfortunes and hard times and how the baby had been lost due to being miles from anywhere and lack of medical care.

And the answer is "yes" I did find this child and helped a family to have closure on a part of their lives that had been so important.

After being a researcher for such a long time, the selling of Coat of Arms, Scottish Clan items and Irish Surname products came as a continuation of that passion and helping people to find their heritage and have something to be proudly displayed - no matter their country of origin.

That is such a talent to find the history of families. Mine is so mixed up that I do not ever think we could get very far. You have lovely things in your store.

Thank you for your kind words. I have quite a few people tell me that they don't have any information to start with - such is the case with a current client - she had nothing - barely names and no dates - and her father's birth had no father. As of today I have put over 500 people on her tree through various branches.

I always thought about doing a genealogy of my family tree, but I have a very difficult last name and most of my family I don't talk to or have any contact with, so I know it would be tough. I am glad there are people like you who offer this service for others. Thank you for sharing this with us.

That sounds like fascinating work!

I've often thought of writing down a family history - at least the part of it that I know....... There are so many stories that I heard from my parents and from my grandparents' generation that are getting lost with time... Knowing where you come from can be very inspiring

thank you - I have a saying I tell people about research:

"In order to move forward into the future, you need to know where you have come from. The trials and triumphs that have moulded people into who they are what they have done in their lives."

You must have a lot of patience. It sounds like a tedious job to me, but I don't know since I've never tried finding any information like that. My mom did our family genealogy first on her side and then on my dad's side.
