One of the first things that I do once the weather gets warm enough is to go into my closet and get out my sandals. It's not only the fact that they are comfortable, it's the fact that it's summer and I CAN.
Different people may choose to wear sandals for several different reasons, among them economy (sandals tend to require less material than shoes), comfort in warm weather, and as a fashion choice. The oldest known sandals were discovered in Fort Rock Cave in the U.S. state of Oregon; radiocarbon dating of the sagebrush bark from which they were woven indicates an age of at least 10,000 years. None of my sandals are quite that old however I do have a couple of pairs that are pretty disco looking.
