The other day I was going through some things my Mother had. She passed away a few months ago. Among a few papers in a box, was one sheet of paper that appears to be part of her autobiography. It told of her being a small child walking behind a man who was plowing a field with a mule team. It told of a cousin I had never heard of. Since it was only one page it didn't have much but it started me thinking.
Everyone should keep a record of things that have happened in their lives. We tend to forget as we get older, or we don't remember quite like it was. I have started my own autobiography for my children to read after I'm gone. It will give them insight as to the kind of person I am, and the events that have taken place in my life. They know me as their mother, but they don't know me as a person.
There are so many things we don't know about our parents, things we never took the time to learn while they were here. I want to leave something that my children and grand children can read and learn what kind of person I am. I would suggest no matter what your age is, that you do the same thing. Your children will be glad you did.
I'm going to go through my mothers computer and see if I can find her autobiography in full. I hope it is there.
