When I was small, I kept a few exceptionally large Pussy Willows in a little found nest on my dresser. I think I imagined them to be micebirds or something equally magical. I cut a small piece of felt and made a blanket for them, and kept a little water in a bottle cap should they get thirsty. I petted them, talked to them, loved them.

To this day, collecting Pussy Willows is one of my most favorite rites of spring. Each year I celebrate "Pussy Willow Day," a sunny Saturday or Sunday in late February or March when there's still snow on the ground, and warmer weather brings a waft of the sweet smell of mud on the breeze and I know... they're ready!

Once upon a time, and just once, I replied that I was an ebay psychic. Of course the person who asked thought I was joking. But it was true. Today, for me, begins this years Christmas season "moment." Because for me, memories have an energy attached to them which resonates far longer, and far stronger, than the words that were said, the food that was served, the presents under the tree.

Before the Holiday Madness overtakes your sense and sensibilities, I urge you to create a quiet, inspiring place in your home that helps you feel more connected to what's meaningful in your life. Like me, many of you may have sacred spaces dedicated for practices such as meditation, yoga, prayer, or healing. But even if you do not need a dedicated place for daily rituals or you already have a space for these, you might want to create a space simply for "seasonal serenity."
