Don't Say NAY on Rayon

Ok, so if you were around in the 70's you remember rayon as being the annoying fabric that was sort of stiff, and didn't keep you cool. No, it actually made you sweat. So no more sweatin' to the oldies rayon these days!
Most of the hippie garments I buy are almost exclusively cotton and rayon from either India or Nepal. This rayon is different and can have a few different "hands".

Caring For Embroiery Work on Funky Garb Hippie Dresses

Ok, so once you know that any of the fabulous "hippie" or "gypsy" dresses made in India need a little extra care...hand wash, and I usually do that inside out...in cool water, what happens if you have a loose thread on all that great embroidery?
No worries! Just don't pull it or you'll wind up with a handful or more of crinkled up embroidery thread! What I do is take my scissors and snip as close to the fabric as I can get to clip off that straggler. This holds true whether it's on the inside or outside of the garment.
SO...if you are basically hand washing (and giving it more of a swishing motion than scrubbing) this should be all you need. You can also use fusible bonding or fabric glue on the inside of the garment too and this should hold it forever!
For me, I wear this stuff almost exclusively so I know first hand it does need a bit more TLC than your department store garments!
