Do You Bank On Line???????
Do you use on line banking?? I do. I, frankly, couldn't pay my bills if I did not. I check my bank account daily and sometimes twice a day. It's important. Very, very important. Read on for the reason why it's so important. Reader Comments (8)

I do bank and shop online and I am vigilent, thankfully. A few months ago I had 3 charges on my visa, all from the same Walmart in Arkansas, all the same day. The first was a small amount, the others over $300. My bank was fantastic - I have never been to Arkansas, have never shopped at Walmart there. The scarry thing is they made up a card and swiped it! I have never lost that card or lent it to anyone - my husband included. Bottom line, the charges were removed from my account. But what makes me most mad is this person may never be caught, and those of us who are honest pay for it in increased prices!

Be careful, I found I was being charged for netflix for 14 months and I never knew it!! OMG. Once Sams Club got a hold of me and asked if I had bought certain items..like 90.00 worth...I said NO, I was there.....but I did not buy those things. Turns out later an employee who rang me out, decided to ring a few things for themselves, courtesy my card number. During X-mas they come out more. So watch everything.....Thanks Illene.

Great Blog. My credit card company finally went and did probably the best thing ever; other than it being a little more work for me, but it is worth it. They just recently underwent some kind of company overhaul and no longer allow automatic payments to come out for anything. If I don't manually approve it, or am not there to say, yes, go ahead, no charges will come through. I have to watch it like a hawk, now because things like my internet subscription, and seller fees were set up to automatically come out once a month, but now I have to watch it and keep track of when it's due so I can pay manually.

Thank you for reading my little rant. Some companies do not like it when you say no to automatic payments. Tough. Nobody gets their hands in my bank account but ME. Even ebay, cell phone, electricity, Addoway, NOBODY. I physically put the payments into my account each month. Period.
Online banking is a wonderful tool. But that's just what it is . . . a tool. It's up to you to be vigilant. | November 17th 2011 at 1321568768
I don't actually bank online, but I do check both of my accounts often. This is such good information for everybody, not just those who bank online. Thanks

I'm with you Ilene - nobody touches my bank account 'cept me! I even changed insurance companies once when they made a new policy that you had to set up auto-draft directly from your bank account.
I work in a bank, and there is SOOOO much fraud - mainly lots of small charges which they figure nobody will notice! And if they are getting her debit card number, it may not be from online purchasing -- you should take a look at what stores she uses the card in - there are many clerks who will take down the card # before returning the card to the customer -- and then save it for use later! She's better off using cash than a debit card if it's a questionable store! Good thing your sister has you to watch out for her!! You need to be really vigilant on this stuff!! | November 18th 2011 at 1321621439
Thank you, Martha. It's nice to be validated by someone "in the business". Thanks for reading and commenting everyone.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!!!!!! |
