My Second Flip House.... I'm very proud of itApril 25th 2012
I do apologize for not being more creative, and not writing lately. I still have a story to finish, and I will get to is for sure! I was Born to be my own Boss! Part IIApril 5th 2012
I am going to continue last week's blog post and tell you about the entrepreneurial spirit in my family - and we have now come to my siblings (and myself). I am going to start you off in perhaps a surprising location -- your local grocery store. It doesn't matter where you live - big city, small town, out in the middle of nowhere - it's all the same, as far as this story goes.
Let's start our tour of your local Grocery store in the "Tea & Coffee" aisle. If you want to buy tea, you will have to choose between green tea, black tea, red tea, white tea, herbal teas.... And how many different varieties of Herbal teas! Tea blends, pure herbal teas, teas that will fix you up and make you feel better or keep you healthy, teas that will help you to sleep... teas that just taste good!! Wow - how do you choose?
Now, if you are old... Read More
I was Born to be my own Boss! Part IMarch 28th 2012
I've always felt that some day I would be my own Boss - some day I would work for myself, because really it was my destiny. I've had some pretty fabulous jobs over the years - and worked for some amazing Bosses - I've had opportunities where I could set my own hours, hire and fire my own employees, run my own little "unit" of somebody else's company. I've even had some of those great bosses who did not interfere - as long as I was bringing in results, they did not care how I did it, and left me alone to make my own decisions. But still.... somebody else was setting the rules. Somebody else was making the profits. Somebody else told me the guidelines of what we could or could not do - and ultimately, somebody else held my Fate in their hands. Not me. And that made even the most "perfect" job somehow not completely... Read More My first FLIP - Tell me what you think!March 14th 2012

We don't eat just with our eyes...February 16th 2012
You know that expression, "We eat with our eyes"? But there's another thing that I've found... we eat with our sense of touch too. Food tastes better when it's served in the right dishes, with the right utensils. If you don't believe me - why do we pull out the chop sticks when we are eating Chinese take-out? It would taste the same eaten with a fork - wouldn't it? Why do red wine, white wine, whiskey or a margarita each have to be served in a different type of glass? I'll tell you a secret (don't tell anybody), but I once drank a margarita out of a red wine glass.... and guess what? It tasted just the same! ... Today is "Tu B'Shvat" - literally the 15th day of the Jewish Month of Shvat, but commonly known and celebrated as "The New Year of the Trees". Long before the world starting marking "Earth Day" - the Jewish people had a day of their own which celebrated Nature, the Earth and in particular TREES. The original purpose of Tu B'Shvat was to calculate the age of fruit trees. There are several biblical edicts in Leviticus that relate to the age of trees, so to make it easier, each year is counted from Tu B'shvat. ... I just finished reading my niece Tracy's post on her "Cancer Sux" blog - it was a sad one, written on the two year Anniversary of the death of her Mother -- my Sister-in-Law Dena. As some of you have read in my previous posts, Tracy is a researcher who has made it her life's work to find a way to Kill Cancer - but in the past 4 years, she has had to deal not only with losing her Mother to endometrial cancer, but also her husband Kelcy's battle with Testicular Cancer -- not to mention losing her beautiful dog Tahoe to cancer, and (I might add) that I lost my sweet Luna to cancer as well just a couple of months ago. |
