Introducing Addoway's New Shipping Options and Calculator

An overwhelming number of sellers, both in the US and abroad, have requested the ability to specify shipping price by region or location. By popular demand, we bring you Addoway's newest seller tool. Not only do we give you the option to specify shipping price by location, we also give you the ability to apply "Semi-Calculated" shipping to any shipping carrier/method. This makes creating your own shipping calculator a piece of cake. Let us explain...

As you can see, you'll still be able to set a Fixed Price for any popular shipping carrier/method.

You'll also be able to specify shipping price by location (country, continent or region).

Now here's where it gets fun. For any or all shipping carrier/methods that you offer, you'll be able to select "Semi-Calculated" price type. This will allow you to create your own shipping calculator, based on locations and prices that you specify.

Here is an example of a Semi-Calculated shipping table for US regions only. As you can see, a seperate shipping price has be specified for each US region.

Now on the Ad pages and Order pages, the buyer will be presented with Country and Zip Code fields. The price displayed to the buyer will be based on the Semi-Calculated table you created in the previous step.

Here you can see that a Zip Code from the US state Florida was entered by the buyer. Florida is located in southeastern USA. Therefore, the price of $9 you entered for USA - Southeast will be provided to the buyer. Cool huh?

You can specify nearly unlimited locations if you choose. Here is another example of a Semi-Calculated table, including countries outside the US.

The buyer selected Canada, so the price of $10 from your shipping table is displayed.

On top of that, you'll be able to Save and Reload any shipping tables that you've created, so that they can be applied again and again.

We are very excited to present these new features to you, and hope that you are equally excited. As always, we appreciate any feedback you might have.

Will you be adding the new USPS shipping options for regional Priority Mail anytime soon? They now have boxes for that!

I'm totally blown away by this new menu of 'shipping and handling charge' options. Looks like it is better than at any other marketplace I've seen, so make sure to advertise it! One question that may be on many minds here: How will this new s+h display impact visibility on referral sites like and googlebase? I ask, because those are notoriously finicky (have special requirements) about the feeds containing s+h data and they may also, if we have multiple s+h amounts in a listing, select the s+h amount that is the highest, which is of course undesirable as such listings would then end up at the bottom of search results displayed to buyers. The question will be 'what is the 'best s+h order' to establish 'pre-feed''.

Thank for pointing this out. With the added shipping functionality, we'll most likely need to make some changes to our feeds. Google products (TheFind also) does accept shipping per location, which would mean greater granularity and potentially better search results. For pre-feed order, I would say it's best to order your shipping options from least expensive to most expensive, even if just to enhance your listings on Addoway. As for feeding in a certain order to Google, that is something we can (and will) easily do on our end, regardless of the order you use now.

Hey Gail,

The sales policies can be found on our terms of use page here:

And you can find the shipping options information by clicking on My Ads in My Addoway and clicking on Shipping Options next to the bulk edit tool. We have a Meet & Greet Page on Facebook that acts as a forum in some sorts here:

Hope this helps. If you need anything at all beyond this just click on the contact us form on the bottom right of this page :)

I am confused... so we still have to enter prices for the semi-calculated to work. IOW, there is no API to pull accurate pricing from USPS, for example? It is still up to the seller to price the shipping per zone?

I am ok with that, just want to understand how the shipping calculator works.

Hi Addoway these are great , but there needs to be a way that we can save the shipping options as a default for this and also our custom listing templete . I would appreciate these changes

Regards Vinewood

Hey Vinewood,

You can save a shipping template. When you are inside the shipping calculator you will notice an area on the right hand side where you can title a shipping template and save it for future reference. Hope this helps. Thank you

So, am I the only one who ships by weight? Just asking cuz it would be extremely beneficial to me to be able to ship by weight. I really cannot ship by item count. I would end up refunding money if someone ordered a lot of rosaries. Going back to the suggestion page.

So we aren't actually able to have the customers calculate shipping based on weight?

Semi-calculated shipping was developed as a solution for sellers that wanted to offer calculated shipping, despite the fact that we are not integrated directly with any of the shipping carriers (USPS, FedEx etc.) It is not based on weight, but rather on shipping prices that you set manually. The result for the buyer is a shipping calculator that generates a price based on their location, but controlled by you.

If the item we sell is shipped via USPS First Class Mail (letter/envelope) and there is no tracking number how can i mark the item as sent?

It will say 'Waiting for delivery' forever since there is no number to input.

What is done in this case to let the buyer know the item was shipped.

I have a good international base but for the life of me this semi-calculated shipping is basically impossible to go through 1200+ and growing items to insert specific values to items being shipped internationally. Is there any plans in the future to incorporate a simple weight based calculated shipping to make international calculations pain free? My international guests are interested to shop my stores on any platform but I cannot offer International here due to the massive headache I get just trying to figure out what to charge manually per item per country. My USA Shipping is free so that is no problem. Any suggestions?

I just imported all my items over from eBay. A total of 88. I do calculated shipping on my items because every item has a different weight. I can't judge how much an item that weighs 6 pounds and going to Calif...would be a total different cost going to Florida. Do I have to manually go to each item that is listed in my store on addoway now and figure out the weight and cost for 88 items, plus other countries. OMG! That will take me two years to complete just shipping costs for these items. Isn't there anyway I can just leave it calculated shipping for all of them. I seriously do not understand these shipping options.
