Growing up being different

I grew up in a different time, different from others, never knowing I was different or that there was any other way to live. Things seem so different then than they are now. I told myself I was going to raise my kids the same. Before I die, I hope to fulfill that promise. Remember when Ivory soap was THE soap in the house? It was awesome. It floats. Great skin complexion. As long as you had a bar of Ivory soap, you could bath, wash your clothes, even wash dishes in a pinch. It was versatile and I just wrote it on my shopping list as a reminder to buy some.

I cannot remember when we got a clothes dryer growing up but we did have one. Most of my adult life, a clothes dryer has not been a priority. Remember how crisp and fresh sheets smelled and felt after being line dried? Towels dried pretty fast in the sun and there was no need for moisturizers...  Read More

Inspiration, Motivation and Encouragement

The Wild Rags Place family fully believe in GOD, karma, paying it forward.  We believe in taking chances, opening doors, closing doors (reality sometimes you just have to close a few), taking that leap of faith, the importance of a smile, kind word and hug.

Today I am sharing a little motivation, inspiration and encouragement.  Something we all need from time to time.  Seriously?  Yes, seriously!  We ALL need it! I am no different and I sincerely appreciate addoway and the staff giving me a place to be for it is a blessing and I love it here.

Hanging in my office is a framed newspaper page.  The sweetest, most innocent, strongest little girl is shown along with her story.  Look closely at this beautiful little girl and you will see she is wearing one of Wild Rags Place's du rags.

We try to follow the...  Read More

From Antique Ruined to Useful Art

Photobucket
Antique Dress Forms are beautiful pieces of art and history. If you search the internet you will
see many variations of antique dress forms. Allow me to share one of mine with you. My
latest project. A wise man recently told me to take time to hobby, relax, think, enjoy. This is
what I have been up to in listening to his advice.

Ms Clara Mae was one of the most talented sewing people in our country community. This
week her son asked me to repair (sew) something for him. We talked while I worked. He
asked me about the props and body form pieces I have in my office. I explained to him what
I use them for and how I got them. Each having their own story. He mentioned his Mom’s
was ruined and in the shed at his sisters. My response was HORROR! She would be so
upset.

I finished mending the item for him and we decided to...  Read More

Changing Yesterday-Today-Tomorrow

Are we changing the wrong things, too fast, too much, the wrong way, the right way?  Thinking back on how our ancestors lived their daily lives, amazes me.
Yesterday:  Coffee cups and mugs were tiny.  Coffee was made stronger, used less creamer/milk and sugar.  I used to look forward to enjoying a cup of coffee with my Gramma in the little white cups shown in the photo.  The blue smaller ones were for camping trips.  Today: it is common practice for some to spend $12 (more or less) for a cup of joe and never think twice about it.  Tomorrow:  What will the size, preportions and availability be like?  Imagine the cost for that cup of coffee!

Coffee Cups
Yesterday: Glasses and cups were designed to last long and were much smaller in size. A glass of water or orange juice before bed was the tiniest glass shown front...  Read More

Staying on the Right Track

With so many changes and battles going on in my own life/world, I am sharing some inspiration to others that might need it too. My blog for this week:
lifeBEST.jpg
It is GOD who directs the lives of his creatures; everyone’s life is in his power. Job 12:10 It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eyes on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone. Ephesians 1:11.

The only accurate way to understand ourselves is by what GOD is and by what he does for us. Romans 12:3.

“I don’t want your sacrifice-I want your love. I don’t want your offerings-I want you to know me.” Says the Lord. Hosea 6:6.

Figure out what will please Christ, and then do it. Ephesians 5:10
