Vintage Apparel Cowboy Style Wild Rags and More

BannerFans.com What is cowboy apparel? Well, it's not just for cowboys. There are numerous organizations ( S.A.S.S., C.A.S, P.O.E.T. etc) whos members enjoy partaking in reenactment events. Dressing in clothing items from the era, using items from the era, living life like in the era, sharing and teaching others the way things were back when. Again, not just cowboys, boots have been popular footwear during Equestrian, Edwardian, Victorian, Civil War eras and more. john-wayne-cowboy-150x150-1.jpg
Surely everyone knows of John Wayne. Iconic example of the cowboy and attire from the eras. Cowboy hats served multiple purpose. Protection from weather and elements, sun, dust, wind, rain. Many hours were spent on foot and on horses. The hat was in essence, their protective roof. cowboy-2.jpg

The Good and Timely Deed

Friendships do not come by chance.  Upon the looms of circumstance Fate weaves an intricate design - and the threads of other lives entwine to make a pattern with our own.

We were not made to walk alone.  Our pathways lead to where we meet a friend in need.  It seems that it was meant to be.

And how important is that little touch of kindness at a time when it is needed most.  These are kindness that you don't forget.

The gesture of true sympathy that's made in all sincerity and comes when you were are weary or upset.

The understanding word that reaches down into your heart - at the very moment of your need.  A well-timed act of friendliness that saves you from dispair - even though it may be small.

Letter From GOD

Good Morning

Let me introduce myself...

I AM GOD

Today I will be handling all of your problems.

Please remember that i do not need your help.

If the devil happens to deliver a situation to you

that you cannot handle, do not attempt to resolve it,

Kindly place it into a box labeled S.F.J.T.D.

(Something For Jesus To Do)

It will be addressed in MY time, not your time.

Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold on to it or

attempt to remove it.  Holding on or removal will delay the

resolution of your problems.  If it is a situation that you

think you are capable of handling, please consult me in

prayer to be sure that it is the proper resolution.

Because I do not sleep nor do I slumber

there is no need for you to loose any sleep.

Rest My...  Read More

Growing up being different

I grew up in a different time, different from others, never knowing I was different or that there was any other way to live. Things seem so different then than they are now. I told myself I was going to raise my kids the same. Before I die, I hope to fulfill that promise. Remember when Ivory soap was THE soap in the house? It was awesome. It floats. Great skin complexion. As long as you had a bar of Ivory soap, you could bath, wash your clothes, even wash dishes in a pinch. It was versatile and I just wrote it on my shopping list as a reminder to buy some.

I cannot remember when we got a clothes dryer growing up but we did have one. Most of my adult life, a clothes dryer has not been a priority. Remember how crisp and fresh sheets smelled and felt after being line dried? Towels dried pretty fast in the sun and there was no need for moisturizers...  Read More

From Antique Ruined to Useful Art

Photobucket
Antique Dress Forms are beautiful pieces of art and history. If you search the internet you will
see many variations of antique dress forms. Allow me to share one of mine with you. My
latest project. A wise man recently told me to take time to hobby, relax, think, enjoy. This is
what I have been up to in listening to his advice.

Ms Clara Mae was one of the most talented sewing people in our country community. This
week her son asked me to repair (sew) something for him. We talked while I worked. He
asked me about the props and body form pieces I have in my office. I explained to him what
I use them for and how I got them. Each having their own story. He mentioned his Mom’s
was ruined and in the shed at his sisters. My response was HORROR! She would be so
upset.

I finished mending the item for him and we decided to...  Read More

Changing Yesterday-Today-Tomorrow

Are we changing the wrong things, too fast, too much, the wrong way, the right way?  Thinking back on how our ancestors lived their daily lives, amazes me.
Yesterday:  Coffee cups and mugs were tiny.  Coffee was made stronger, used less creamer/milk and sugar.  I used to look forward to enjoying a cup of coffee with my Gramma in the little white cups shown in the photo.  The blue smaller ones were for camping trips.  Today: it is common practice for some to spend $12 (more or less) for a cup of joe and never think twice about it.  Tomorrow:  What will the size, preportions and availability be like?  Imagine the cost for that cup of coffee!

Coffee Cups
Yesterday: Glasses and cups were designed to last long and were much smaller in size. A glass of water or orange juice before bed was the tiniest glass shown front...  Read More

If I only Knew Then......

Every generation sees changes from A-Z in life surrounding us. Does it seem that the changes become more and more with each generation or is it just me?

Change is inevitable. Some are good, some are bad.

The only guarantee that we have is they WILL occur! The other guarantee is that we must all adapt and grow with the changes or get left behind. Kinda makes you go HMMMMMMMMM concerning that ole saying “there are no guarantees in life”. Sort of just stumbled across one of those AH HA moments, right?

It is interesting to watch to say the least. Another ole saying “had I only known then what I know now” comes to mind. That has to be one of the funniest ones. Living life is a daily learning experience no matter our age, we are constantly learning.

With the antiques, pawn, pickers shows lately, we are seeing more and more items and ideas. The...  Read More
