This is an amazing project with amazing results. The only limitation is your imagination, and I must say, my imagination went wild with this one. Keepsake Rag Pillow

Raggedy Keepsake Pillow Tutorial

This is a wonderful project to make for your children or anyone that you would like to give a keepsake to; just change the fabric to suit the occasion. For this project I used fabric from my stash of fabric for the back of the pillow and for the solid squares on the front of the pillow. For the "keepsake" part, I used a sheet that my kids used when they were little. The sheet is almost 30 years old and still in wonderful condition, and my kids always appreciate the things that I make for them. These instructions are for a pillow that will measure approximately 23" X 23" square.

Supplies:

Fabric

1 – 23" square in a solid color (for the back of the pillow)
13 – 6" squares in a solid color (for the front of the pillow)Read More

Robert Linxe Truffles

Cocoa TrufflesThese truffles are truly amazing. I made them this year for my family for the holidays and they were gone in a flash.

Usually, when someone looks at truffles, they think they would be way too hard to make, but really they are one of the easiest bakery items to make, I promise.

This recipe is by Robert Linxe, and his truffles are the best I have ever tasted. It is wonderful that he is will to share his recipe with us.

Keeping True to Yourself in the New Year

keeping True to Yourself in the New Year

The new year brings us many changes both personal and professional. This blog is going to focus on the personal.

Most of us are putting our resolutions together with the strong hope of being able to keep them; however, most of us will give up because we either don’t really want to keep our resolutions, someone else is telling us what our resolutions should be, or we just don’t have the strength and/or motivation to be able to keep our resolutions.

Well, instead of making resolutions for the New Year, I have decided to make a pledge to myself for each “resolution” that I want to strive for.

In this blog, I am going to share with you how I plan to do that.

Something Blue

Have you ever wondered about the origin of the poem:

Something old, something new

Something borrowed, something blue

And a silver sixpence in her shoe

Although wearing these items is supposed to symbolize good fortune for the bride, they are also just an entertaining and fun way for brides to incorporate tradition that gives the bride an opportunity to express her appreciation for a few special people in her life on her special day.
