As many of you know I wrote a blog when I found out that I had the brain tumor. Today I went to see the NeuroSurgeon at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Supposedly some of the best doctors in the world are at Emory and I sure hope so as I saw a NeuroSurgeon there this morning and found out more than I wanted to know about the tumor.

I will be having brain surgery on December 1, 2011, I will go for another MRI and the Pre-Op on November 30. I have been told that I will be in the hospital for five days, the first two will be in intensive care. Mind you, this hospital is about 80 or 90 miles from where we live. I did manage to talk my husband into staying at home except for the day of the surgery. It is just too far to try to travel back and forth every day and after all, I am going to well taken care of.

A couple of years ago someone dumped a darling little dog at our house. We thought at first that she was just lost and I put up fliers, when no one claimed her we took her to the vet and then found out why she was dumped. She was pregnant! The vet told us that we couldn't let her have the puppies because we didn't know what had gotten hold of her and if it was a big dog it would kill her to have the puppies, so he spayed her and took care of the problem. We named her Sunshine as she was bringing more sunshine into our lives.

We already had 3 dogs in a pen but because she was so much smaller we had planned on keeping her outside on a long leash. That was not to be, the big dogs would 'talk' to her through the fence and she would 'talk' back to them. We finally decided to take her inside the pen to see how she would get along with them. My husband has had 3 different back surgeries over the last 20 years and after the last one he lost a lot of the feeling in his lower legs and feet. He also has some pain and tingling in them. He has difficulty at times keeping his balance and is just getting steadily worse, he wears braces on both legs below the knee that also go under his feet. Eventually, and sooner than he would like, he will probably be using a cane.

Two years ago, we went to see a NeuroSurgeon at the University of Alabama and at that time he told Don that no amount of surgery would help him and that was when he told him that he needed the brace on the left leg. The brace on the right leg was added last year. His Neurologist decided a few weeks ago that he wanted a second opinion and referred him to a NeuroSurgeon (expert in spines) at Emory University Hospital.

Oh, the trials and tribulations of being a flea market vendor! My husband and I have been flea market vendors for almost four years now and every weekend, we think about giving it up. But, we always have to ask ourselves...what would we do with all this 'stuff?' We have 3 booths inside a metal building, it is way too hot in the summer time and way too cold in the winter time. Why do we do it? We have been asking ourselves that for almost as long as we have been setting up. It just seems to get into your blood somehow.

We sell a variety of items from glassware to jewelry and stuff in between. We have our good weekends and our bad weekends. The worst weekends are when we don't make enough to cover the rent, then you hope that the next time you can make enough to cover that and more.
