Ah Cats, Gotta Love 'EmAugust 31st 2011
I have always been a cat lover and had at least one since I was just a kid. My husband tolerated them until a little Calico decided that she loved him and when she crawled into his lap and started purring, he was a convert. In our almost 54 years of marriage, I cannot count how many we have had. When we 'lived in town' and would lose one, my oldest son would take it to a special place in a wooded area and bury it, now that we live 'out in the country', we have our own little pet cemetary. We have loved and lost so many. We have had some cats just disappear and have never discovered what happened to them. Can You Be Too Honest?August 23rd 2011
I was raised to always be truthful and honest and also to treat others as I would want to be treated. I am beginning to think that something has happened to these old standards. I hear people all the time telling outright lies, laughing because they got something for nothing, etc. Have I lived too long? Whatever happened to all of these standards? I Love Books, Do You?August 17th 2011
I have been reading for more years than I like to think about and my love for books has never waivered. I cannot even imagine reading a book online or even one of those new fangled (yes, I'm old) things called an eBook. I love the feel of books, the smell of them and the way they look. How could you ever feel that way about an eBook? My book always goes with me wherever I go and it puts me to sleep each night. I learned a long time ago that I sleep much better if I read for 30 minutes to an hour when I go to bed. The Joy of GrandchildrenAugust 10th 2011
We have four grandchildren and they are the joy of our lives. We got our oldest grandson when he was 8 and our oldest granddaughter when she was 5. It was love at first sight and even though they are grown now, married and in the Marine Corps, they are near and dear to our hearts. The oldest grandson is at Parris Island and he has served three tours in Iraq. He will be re-enlisting later this year and if we are still in Afghanistan next year, I imagine he will go. The oldest grand daughter is at Camp LeJeune in NC and she has served one tour in Afghanistan and may have to go back next year, if we are still there and I pray that we won't be, not only for them but for all our young (and old) men and women who are in our Armed Forces. May God Bless Them All!! |
