MothersMarch 15th 2012
There are all kinds of Mothers in this world and I think that I have seen or known just about every kind. My mother was very uncaring and selfish and became much worse after my Daddy died. I always knew that she loved my brother more than she did me, then she proved it after my Daddy died. She had me take everything that belonged to him out of her mobile home the day after the funeral. She said that she didn't want anything around to remind her of him. Then she took a trip to New Mexico, spent his whole $10,000 life insurance policy, met a 23 year old soldier on the bus coming back to NC and spent the weekend with him. When I wouldn't let her move in with us, she married a drunk 15 years younger than she was. He beat her and I called him and threatened him, she got on the phone and told me that if I ever came back to NC, she would have the sheriff waiting for me.... Most people think that the symptoms of a heart attack is 'Chest Pain', 'Pain Down the Arm', 'Shortness of Breath', and 'Nausea'. This is usually true when a man is having a heart attack, but heart attacks in women are more subtle and so many women (and doctors) don't realize when they are having a heart attack. Hunting and Yellow JacketsMarch 1st 2012
When my Daddy was young he was always going hunting, mainly to help feed his family and my husband was also a hunter for the same reason. I had never been hunting and my Daddy and my husband talked me into going one day, this was many years ago before my Daddy died in 1975. So, here I go in my jeans and sweater carrying a 22 rifle. I really don't know what I thought that I was doing because old soft hearted me would never have been able to shoot an animal. But, we were having fun tromping through the woods in North Carolina where my Daddy lived after he retired. I was having fun just looking at all the beautiful plants that were still living in the woods and even pointed my gun at a rabbit once while saying 'there goes one.' Then, all of a sudden I was in extreme pain, looked down and I was standing on a yellow jacket nest and they were going up... Read More A Day With Teenage Grand KidsFebruary 20th 2012
What could be more fun than spending a day with your two teen age grand children? We asked our 16 year old grand daughter and our 14 year old grand son if they wanted to spend the day going to thrift stores last Friday. We have been taking them since they were babies and we have turned them into thrift store junkies, they love them. Naturally our grand daughter texted her boy friend that we were going and he said that I hadn't beat him up enough and asked to come with us. Naturally we went by to get him. He is 18 and plans to be a doctor, puts up with anything that Lindsay says or does. I told her that she needs to hang on to him. Sad to say, she is just like me, but that is fodder for another blog. We started out about 11 AM, went to one Goodwill and one Second Chance Thrift Store and didn't find too much. I bought some paper back books and... It sure beats the alternative!! Ah, Those CataractsJanuary 19th 2012
Cataracts can be bothersome but they can also be wonderful. Why do I say that? Well, sometimes you don't even know when you have the cataracts, I didn't but the Optometrist said they were ready so in two separate visits to the hospital, I had the cataract surgery in 2006. To tell you the truth, I didn't even know that I could see better because the Optometrist still prescribed glasses for me and naturally the Optician was in his office. So, I continued to pay almost $400 everytime that he said that there was a change in my eyes. Imagine my surprise when the Opthalmologist informed me about 3 months ago that my vision was 20/20 and all I needed was reading glasses. It seems as though this happens to some of us when we have our cataract surgery. When I asked why the Optometrist kept prescribing glasses for me, I was told that an Optometrist was in business... Well it is a new year and so far we have had rain, rain, rain and loud mouthed politicians. Are you as sick of them as I am? It wouldn't be so bad if they stuck to what they should be talking about....what they will do if elected. But no, they have got to bad mouth each other and that only turns people off. At this point, there is nobody that I want to vote for next year, but vote I will as I always do. I, for one, will be so glad when the 2012 elections are over and done with. The only problem is that I just looked at my calendar and realized how far away that is. Do you think that we will live through all of it? God + Family + Friends = A+December 27th 2011
This blog is dedicated to God, family and friends because without them I would not have been able to get through the trauma and the surgery for my brain tumor. I promise that this will be my last blog about the tumor, but I wanted to have this to officially thank every body and give credit where credit is due. Update on Brain TumorNovember 22nd 2011
As many of you know I wrote a blog when I found out that I had the brain tumor. Today I went to see the NeuroSurgeon at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Supposedly some of the best doctors in the world are at Emory and I sure hope so as I saw a NeuroSurgeon there this morning and found out more than I wanted to know about the tumor. Our Little Ray of SunshineNovember 15th 2011
A couple of years ago someone dumped a darling little dog at our house. We thought at first that she was just lost and I put up fliers, when no one claimed her we took her to the vet and then found out why she was dumped. She was pregnant! The vet told us that we couldn't let her have the puppies because we didn't know what had gotten hold of her and if it was a big dog it would kill her to have the puppies, so he spayed her and took care of the problem. We named her Sunshine as she was bringing more sunshine into our lives. |
